Ernest “Ernie” Kayser Meredith, 79, of Snowville, born July 23, 1945, passed away Monday, July 14, 2025. Whether it was on his parents’ dairy farm or overlooking the Little River, Snowville was always home. Ernie was a proud Marine and Vietnam Veteran. Oorah! After serving in the Marines, he went on to graduate from Viginia Tech with an accounting degree. He worked as a CPA and comptroller before starting his own insurance brokerage in 1988.

He loved sports, playing them in high school and beyond. This is something he shared with his son and grandsons, always watching or attending games with one of them. He enjoyed nothing more than attending his grandsons’ sporting events when they were growing up.

Ernie was preceded in death by his parents, Byron and Florence Meredith; sisters, Mary Byrd Poore and Gay Meredith; brother, Barney Meredith and nephews Lang, Wesley and Keith.

Survivors include his loving spouse of 53 years, Nydia Meredith; son, Brandon Meredith; daughter, Jacenta Huff (Mitch); grandsons, who were his pride and joy, Chase (Huntar) Huff and Aiden Huff; great grandchildren, Waylon, Maven and Holsten Huff; beloved sister, Janet (Conley) Dishon; sister-in-law, Charlotte Meredith and countless others who became like family through years of working alongside him.

Per Ernie’s request, a graveside service will be held at the Southwest Virginia Veteran’s Cemetery in Dublin Friday, July 25 at 2 pm with Pastor Jerry King officiating.

In lieu of flowers consider donating to Tunnel to Towers Foundation or another charity supporting Veterans.

The Meredith family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford.
