CHRISTIANSBURG – It has been a tradition at The Villas at Peppers Ferry community in Christiansburg for 20 years to assist with the needs of the Montgomery County Department of Social Services (MCDSS).
Traditionally that includes Thanksgiving baskets and school supplies. Recently, interested residents donated gift cards totaling $1,785 for school supplies for children with needs. Amy Webb, of the Montgomery County Department of Social Services, reports that the staff uses the cards to do the shopping. They get exactly what each client needs, be that a calculator or crayons. She also expressed appreciation for the timing, as they can take advantage of the Virginia Sales Tax Holiday weekend.
