Event offers a day of fun for all ages, even pets, in an effort to support the American Heart Association’s work

CHRISTIANSBURG – The American Heart Association will bring the community together in a fun, meaningful way this fall with the 2025 New River Valley Heart Walk Oct. 11 at Christiansburg Huckleberry Park.

Registration is open now for the event, which raises funds to fight heart disease and stroke, the leading causes of death in the U.S.

Co-chaired by Aaron Carr (Eyecare & Surgery Blacksburg) and Lauren Dudley (LewisGale Hospital Montgomery), the NRV Heart Walk will celebrate the Association’s mission to advance health and hope for everyone, everywhere while featuring a Kids Zone, the annual Pup Parade and much more for families to enjoy.

“We are excited to see the New River Valley come together to support heart health and our life-saving mission,” said Christie Steele-Garcia, development director for the American Heart Association. “It’s incredibly rewarding to see the community show up for local survivors and to help fund our critical, life-saving research.”

Leading sponsors include MOOG, Carilion Clinic, LewisGale Hospital Pulaski, LewisGale Hospital Montgomery, InMotion, and the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM). Media supporters for the event include WDBJ 7 News, Q99FM and Lamar Outdoor.

“We can’t thank our sponsors and community partners enough,” Steele-Garcia added. “Their support helps us bring this impactful event to life.”
Registration is free and can be done quickly and easily by visiting www.NRVHeartWalk.org. Teams can be made of local businesses, families, community organizations, churches or anyone who just wants to be a part of this special day.
