BLACKSBURG – Blacksburg United Methodist Church recently presented a check for $3000 to the Montgomery County Emergency Assistance Program (MCEAP).

The MCEAP’s mission is to assist Montgomery County residents in maintaining their households and restoring their self-sufficiency, achieved by serving the immediate, emergency, and temporary needs of low-income, unemployed, elderly or handicapped individuals and families.

“We know that every cent of this donation will help our neighbors in need with food, clothing, household items, and/or financial assistance,” said Dick Arnold, Blacksburg UMC SERVE Coordinator. “Our SERVE team is excited to learn that the MCEAP program has allocated some funds for a new program providing clothes vouchers to be redeemed at MCEAP’s Thrift store to help adults who do not otherwise qualify for the Christmas Store program. Compassion and creativity are the hallmarks of MCEAP’s incredible team who are always searching for way to make every dollar donated do the most good in our community.”
