
The Kiwanis Club of Montgomery County-Blacksburg recently installed new officers and directors, including Charlie Stallings, Sam Hicks, Sarah Reed, Division 16 Lt Governor Bill Kennan (Christiansburg Kiwanis) and Marc Alley.
Retiring directors include Jim Lyons, Jim Marchman, and Dori Marriott. Don Conner, Linda Felts, Miranda Layne, and Chuck Smith have one more year as directors. Andrew Walker retired as president and Doug Butts was installed as president. Other officers include Posey Jones (president-elect), Tom Layne (vice president), Don Linkous (secretary) and Jerry Jones (treasurer).
The club will hold its annual pancake breakfast with pancakes, sausage, juice and coffee on Saturday, October 18, from 8:00 to 11:00 AM in Blacksburg United Methodist Church’s Whisner Building at the corner of Lee & Penn Streets. Tickets are $8 cash, check or Venmo and can be purchased at the door.
Some of the programs The Kiwanis Club of Montgomery County-Blacksburg supports include Prices Fork Elementary School preschool, book purchases in 13 county preschool classrooms, Micah’s backpack, Project Hope, Scouting BSA, Boys Home, Salvation Army, Christmas Store, Boys & Girls Club, NRV Cares, Montgomery JAM, Interfaith Child Care, ACCE and others. The club’s other fundraiser each year is a June golf tournament.
