Hope Wilson is only a junior at Auburn High School and recently announced her intentions to play softball at Radford University.
Last season, Wilson broke or tied five school records, including setting a new high
for home runs in one season with15 and RBI’s with 59. Both previous records held by a
someone she knows well, her older sister who just finished playing at RU.
Wilson said she chose RU for many reasons, including her family’s familiarity with the program and school.
“And it’s close to home, which is something I’ve always wanted,” she said. “From a softball standpoint, I loved watching my older sister Abby play there and seeing how it shaped her into the amazing person she is today. The coaches are so great, and the whole environment is so positive and grounded in strong values. It truly feels like Radford is where Gods has led me to be.”
At Auburn, Wilson has experienced plenty of success including back-to-back district and region titles.
She said she hopes to grow not just as a student athlete, but also as a person.
“I want to earn my degree, in whatever I choose to do. On the field I hope to push myself to new levels and contribute to a program that means a lot to me. I hope to inspire others, whether it’s younger athletes, my teammates, or anyone watching me play. I hope to reflect my faith in everything I do and spread Gods love through my actions and character.”
Radford University finished 30-26 this past season with a 14-4 Big South Conference record.
