Othar Randolph “Randy” Phillips, 86, long-time resident of Radford, passed away peacefully at his home Sunday, Mar. 8, 2026. He was born Oct. 10, 1939, in Radford. Randy was a dedicated member and retiree of the Lynchburg Foundry. He loved to hunt and fish and did so until the last few years when he physically could not do it anymore. He was also a veteran of the National Guard.

Randy was a quiet and gentle man always giving to others. He was well known for his fish fries and deer jerky. He shared a love for gardening and canning nearly all his harvest.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Burman and Kate Catherine Roop Phillips; and brothers, David and Donald.

Left to cherish his memory are his son, Keith (Becky) Phillips; daughter, Kim (Gene) Hurst; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

The family wishes to express their grateful and most appreciative thanks to ACG Hospice and  to Love by Hope, LLC for their exceptional care, respect, compassion and kindness to our Dad and family during the last year. We could not have done it without your help.

A graveside service with full military honors was held Friday, Mar. 13, 2026, at the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin.

The Phillips family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford.
