The Virginia High School League (VHSL) has announced winter state honors, which includes several athletes from Radford and Montgomery County.
Class 4 all-state wrestlers included Blacksburg’s Takoda Parker at 106 pounds and Tharin Svetannt at 150.
In Class 3, all-state wrestlers were Christiansburg’s Reza Massjouni (144), Jake Robie (190) and Brady Hand (150).
In Class 2, Radford’s Cole Martin (190) was named all-state.
The Class 3 basketball team included Christiansburg’s Garrett Overbay on the second team.
Class 2 cheer included second-teamer Elizabeth King of Auburn.
The Class 4 all-state swimming list were Blacksburg’s Cameron Roy in the 300 Freestyle and 100 Butterfly, and Soren Anderson and Lef Anderson, both in the one-meter dive.
In Class 3 Swimming, Christiansburg all-staters were Luke Rawlings and Laney Alderman.
Over on the Class 2 pool, Radford’s Ben Marinaro was in the 50 Freestyle, Joseph Epley and Kennedy Fender, both in 1-Meter Diving.
In Class 1 indoor track, Auburn continued its dominance including the all-state list. Isayah Hamann was named all-state in the 55 Meters and 55-hurdles. Gideon Miear was named for the high jump, Ethan Brunk for triple jump, Kobi Bonds and Raliegh Brown in shotput, Bryce Brunk in the 500 Meters, Jamerson Funk in the 1,000, Allyson Harris in shot, and Allyson Funk and Beverly Warner in both the 1,600 and 3,200 meters.
Also, Eastern Montgomery’s Marshall Tate was Class 1 all-state in the high jump and triple jump, Spencer Sisson in the 3,200, and Grayson Wheeler in the 1,000.
In Class 2, Radford’s Essiq Williams was named all-state in both the 55 and 300 meters, while Abigail Castleberry received the honor for the 1,000 meters and Cora Mosby in the 3,200 meters.
In Class 3, Christiansburg’s Max Craig was honored in the 1,000, Mariah Reed in the 1,600 and 3,200, Ayva Haley in the shot and Jennia Saia in the pole vault.
Class 4 indoor track’s list included River Matthews of Blacksburg in the 3,200, Tamoy Douglas in the 55 meters, Mallory Farmer in pole vault, and Mirabella Garza in the 500 meters, 55 hurdles and triple jump.
