Seven student-athletes from Christiansburg High School will take their career to the next level.
Sean McMurray (football, Shenandoah), Elias Litos (football, Southern), RInnah Good (cheerleading, E&H), Izaiah Cotto (football, Averett), Mason Cullop (baseball, Concord), Parker McAllister (football, Roanoke) and Riley Larimer (cross country, track).
McMurray and McAllister had previously announced their intentions to play football in college, while Cullop did the same for baseball at Concord. The other four joined the group in a special ceremony this past Thursday in the school’s gymnasium.
Larimer will run both cross country and track at Roanoke.
“In cross country, I will be doing 6k’s, but in track I hope to branch out from the events I currently do. I hope to be able to run anything from an 800 up to a 10k, and possibly even the 3k steeplechase in the outdoor season. I’ll also most likely be high jumping,” she said.
This past season, Larimer ran a cross country 5k in under 20 minutes multiple times and set a new personal record in the 3200 meters by 18 seconds from last year (12:02), and clearing five feet in the high jump.
Larimer plans to major in Biology with a concentration in pre-veterinary studies.
Litos hopes to serve as team’s punter at Southern. He said the staff there was excellent and super hospitable, as well as their dedication to the program, and their commitment to their players.
“I very quickly found that SVU is where I wanted to start my collegiate career,” he said. He will major in Computer Science with an emphasis on Cybersecurity.
“If I believe that I will be one of the best D3 punters, I will get there. I hope to have my name in the record books at SVU and there’s nothing stopping me from getting there mentally and physically,” he said.
Good is one of the first from Christiansburg High School to cheer in college and called Emory and Henry a second home.
“My mom is originally from that area, and my grandparents still live there. I have so many amazing memories of being on the campus at a young age. When the opportunity to cheer came up, I knew it was meant to be. I love my sport and so thankful to be a part of the Emory team,” she said.
Good hopes to also joined the Emory & Henry NCA Nationals team.
“Competing at that level has always been a dream of mine. I plan to master new stunting and tumbling skills at the collegiate level. I also hope to be on the Dean’s list during my time at Emory.”
She plans to major in in Engineering Science.
