Doise Moore Trumbo, 98, was called home on Feb. 28, 2026 to join her late husband, Charles Everett Trumbo; her daughter and son-in-law Linda and Geter Wilson; sisters Dorothy Hendrick, Ada Harrison, Sylvia Price, Catherine Bloxom, Ruth Fleck; and brothers Clifford Moore, Allen (Bobby) Moore, Charles Moore, Clarence Moore, and John Moore. She was born in Montgomery County, the daughter of the late John Ulysess Moore and Olivia Meredith Moore.

Doise is survived by daughter, Robin Odom (Don); grandson Barry Wheeler; grandson Walter Wheeler (Shelly); great-grandson, Dillon Wheeler (Gabrielle); great-granddaughter Victoria Wheeler; great-great granddaughter Serenity Wheeler; brother Denny Moore (Shelvy); sister-in-law Eloise Trumbo Ruby, and many nieces and nephews.

A graduate of Blacksburg High School, Doise spent most of her working career at Lowes Grove Elementary School in Durham, North Carolina as a cafeteria worker known for her cinnamon buns. Doise enjoyed baking, cooking, sewing, crocheting, embroidering and watching bluebirds. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend who will be missed.

The family would like to extend thanks to the Duke Hospice team for the care and support during the last months of Doise’s life; her Visiting Angels caregivers; her faithful visitor Johnnie; and neighbors/friends who visited and called. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to NC Bluebird Society at https://www.northcarolinabluebirdsociety.org.

Online condolences may be made at https://www.hudsonfuneralhome.com.

Graveside services are planned for June 4, 2026 at 1 p.m. at the Halterman Cemetery in Bergton, Virginia.
