Janie Early Linkous, 83, of Merrimac, departed her Blacksburg address and entered her heavenly home on Thursday, June 11, 2026.

She was born in Roanoke on July 14, 1942, to the late Charles and Thelma “Gonie” Carter Early. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Eugene Linkous; and three brothers, Carl, Ronnie and Curtis Early. She was a long-time faithful member of Merrimac Pentecostal Holiness Church. She retired from Heritage Hall after over 24 years of service, then helped Stanley at the Auction House. 
She is survived by her sister, Daisy Early; daughters and sons-in-law, Nora Linkous Woolwine, Shelia and Fred Linkous, Karen Linkous and Joyce and Tony Hopkins; sons and daughters-in-law, Stanley “Tony” and Amby Linkous and Gary “Gomer” Linkous; grandchildren, Travis Linkous, Brandon Woolwine (Kyrra), Richard Spence, Jr., Kyndra Merix (William), Christina Agnew (Chris), Justin Linkous (Molly), Elisha Spence (Scott), Vincent Linkous (Alisha) and Bradley Linkous (Britney); great-grandchildren, Levi, Riley, Aubrey, Carter, Shelana, Brayden, Cole, Arabella, Gunner, Mea, Bryland, Remington, Jaxson, Vincent and Sophie; sister-in-law, Veltie Linkous; special lifelong friend, Ethel Harvey; and several nieces, nephews, and numerous friends.
The family wishes to thank special caregivers Tyanna Carter, Christie Davis, Tamara Combs and Brookly Kelley. 
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, June 14, 2026 in the Merrimac Pentecostal Holiness Church with Pastors Jamey Hutton and David Hawks officiating. Interment followed in the North Fork Cemetery. The family received friends Saturday, June 13, 2026, at McCoy Funeral Home.
