Radford University is looking for a new softball coach.

The school announced the resignation of head softball coach Kevin Fagan on Friday.
“I really enjoyed my time here at Radford, and this was an incredibly difficult decision to make,” said Fagan. “Coaching this team was a joy day in and day out over the last two seasons and I am thankful to the entire Radford Athletics team, administration, family and alumni for their support.”

Over the course of two seasons at the helm, Fagan helped guide the program to a 2025 Big South Regular Season Conference title and was named the conference’s Coach of the Year in the same season. Radford student-athletes earned two Pitcher of the Year honors, one Freshman of the Year, and one Scholar-Athlete of the Year as well as 13 all-conference selections. The Highlanders were also ranked over the course of five weeks in D1 Softball’s Mid-Major poll while picking up two power victories over Louisville and Boston College.

Fagans is leaving Radford to join his daughter on the staff at Liberty University and will serve as the associate head coach in Lynchburg.
“We would like to thank Kevin for the outstanding job he did for our softball program which includes winning the 2025 Big South Regular Season Championship,” said Radford University Director of Athletics . “Kevin is a wonderful person and a tremendous coach. We hate to see him depart but we wish Kevin and his family the very best.”
“We will work hard to find an excellent coach that is a good fit for Radford Softball and Highlander Athletics,” Lineburg continued. “We have outstanding facilities for our softball program including our indoor hitting facility as well as our recently renovated stadium that is among the best in the Commonwealth of Virginia. We continue to be excited about the direction of Highlander softball and our ability to compete for championships in the Big South Conference.”
A national search for the program’s next head coach will be conducted immediately.
