Independence Day celebrations in the New River Valley

The towns of Blacksburg and Christiansburg and the City of Radford have celebrations planned for Independence Day.

The fun starts Friday, July 3 in Radford. The City of Radford will hold an America’s 250th Celebration on Friday, July 3 in Bisset Park. The festivities kick off at 4 p.m.

DJ J. Scott Freeman will spin some tunes, along with live music by the Domino Band and the singing of the National Anthem by The Glorylanders. The event also includes a patriotic dog show, food trucks, merchandise vendors, inflatable bouncy houses and games for children.

Free t-shirts and other items will be given away while supplies last. The evening will conclude with fireworks at 9:30 p.m.

Also, on July 4, join the Town of Christiansburg to celebrate Independence Day and the 250th Anniversary of the United States of America.

Bring your family and friends to Christiansburg Huckleberry Park, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for a day of fun including live music, food trucks, vendors, games and activities and more. The evening will conclude with a spectacular fireworks show beginning around 9:15 p.m. Fireworks will be launched near Christiansburg Huckleberry Park and can be viewed from Uptown Mall or the Walmart parking lot.

Blacksburg’s July 4th parade, which is organized by the Mount Tabor Ruritan Club, starts at 2 p.m. This year’s theme is “250th Trifecta – Country, Commonwealth and County.” The parade starts on Eheart Street in Blacksburg, runs through downtown on Main Street, and ends on Alumni Mall. The Town of Blacksburg will have live music, food vendors, festivities and fireworks at Municipal Park, 6 – 9:30 p.m. The schedule is: 6 – 7 p.m.- Blacksburg Community Band performs; 7:30-9:30 p.m. – Roots Down performs; 9:30 p.m. – fireworks show begins.
