When I see you, I see myself. Both in life and death, I see.
Melinda O. Gleim, 68, of Blacksburg, passed away June 30, 2026. Born May 23, 1958, in Lynchburg, Melina was a devoted sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend whose presence brought warmth and steadiness to everyone who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie and Madaline O’Brien; her daughter, Sherry Toler; her son, Zachery Hussien; her sister and brother-in-law, Debora and Joe White.
Melinda is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, April and Jeremy Plumley of Wiesbaden, Germany, and Madaline Toler of Blacksburg; granddaughters, Kalissa, Kamrynn, Hayley and Kerrigan; her brother, Richard Oliver (Deb); and her sisters Donna Weber (Asa) and Ann Duncan (Dave).
Melinda loved animals deeply – especially Zelda, her cherished “grand kitty.” Weekends often found her exploring yard sales in search of that perfect hidden treasure, and whenever she could, she escaped to the beach, a place that brought her peace and joy.
Her life was woven from simple pleasures, fierce love, and quiet resilience. She will be remembered for her kindness, her humor, and the way she made others feel seen.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, July 6, 2026 in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with her brother, Richard Oliver officiating. Interment followed in the Sunset Cemetery. The family received friends prior to the service.
