Co-sponsored by the NRV AARP, the Town of Christiansburg and the Christiansburg Recreation Center, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. More than 80 exhibitors.
Includes health, hearing and vision screenings; vaccinations; demonstrations of stair lifts and wheelchairs; information and resources related to nutrition/healthy eating tips, SNAP education; medical, financial, legal, mental health, physical therapy, insurance information; healthy homes, fall prevention, energy efficiency; scam/fraud avoidance and veterans’ benefits; Master Gardener information and cuttings for all, and over 50 door prizes and giveaways. Fair is free and open to the public.
2026 Market Square Jam

Sons of Confederate Veterans meeting
The Sons of Confederate Veterans, Stuart Horse Artillery Camp 1784 will meet at 7 p.m. at the NRV Super Bowl, 375 Arbor Drive NE, Christiansburg. Members of the United Daughters of the Confederacy (UDC) are also invited to attend. Ted Farmer, Associate Professor of History and Political Science at New River Community College, will present Part 2 of his talk on “Nathan Bedford Forrest-Military Leader”. Art exhibit opening
Public reception for “Wood, Water and Stone: The Language of Landscapes” by Dianne Gillis-Robinson, at the Montgomery Museum, Christiansburg, 5- 7 p.m. Gillis-Robinson paints mostly in oils and pastels and is partial to landscapes, but also does still-life and animal paintings. Dianne Gillis-Robinson is largely self-taught but also studied primarily at Art League Houston under noted artist, Laura Spector. The exhibit will be on display throughout September, October and November.
Saturday, Sept. 19:
Blues, Brews & BBQ
The Blacksburg Museum & Cultural Foundation’s Annual Blues, Brews, & BBQ at the St. Luke & Odd Fellows Hall. Beer and wine, barbeque and sweet treats for purchase from Blue Ridge Beverage and Kirk’s Famous BBQ. The New River Blues Society will be on site with information and as event support. Admission is free, though a $10 donation is suggested. All funds will help exhibit redesign at the St. Luke & Odd Fellows Hall, slated for a grand reopening on Juneteenth 2027! Seating is limited, so bring chairs. Performance schedule: 12:30 – 1:30 p.m.- The JoJo Stockton Project; 2 – 3 p.m.- Seedpicker; and 3:30 – 4:30 p.m.- Lady D and Mi$$ion.
Kiwanis Wilderness Trail Festival
The 53rd annual Kiwanis Wilderness Trail Festival will take place in downtown Christiansburg. The event includes local arts and crafts vendors, craft demonstrations, a children’s area, two stages, an emergency services location, great food all day, raffles, a silent auction and more.

Opening concert of the Radford University 2026-27 University Performance Series with three-time Grammy winner and five-time IBMA Fiddle Player of the Year, Jason Carter. Radford City Council meeting
The Radford City Council will hold its regularly scheduled meeting at 7 p.m. in council chambers at the Radford Municipal Building, 10 Robertson St., Radford. Citizens are invited to attend and allowed to speak at each meeting. See the agenda at www.radfordva.gov.
Montgomery County Board of Supervisors meeting
Public meetings are normally held the second and fourth Monday of each month at the Montgomery County Government Center, 755 Roanoke St., Christiansburg. Closed sessions begin at 6 p.m. if needed. Open sessions begin at 7:15 p.m. Citizens are invited to attend and allowed to speak at each meeting. All regular meetings of the Board of Supervisors are rebroadcast on Montgomery County Comcast and Shentel Channels 190 daily.

The council meets in regular session the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Roger E. Hedgepeth Chambers of the Blacksburg Municipal Building, 300 S. Main St. These meetings are open to the public and televised live on WTOB Channel 2.
Christiansburg Town Council meeting
At 7 p.m. at Town Hall, 100 E. Main St., Christiansburg. This is a regular meeting of town council. The meeting will be live streamed to the Town’s YouTube page at www.christiansburg.org/YouTube.
