Auburn teammates Alyson Funk, Autumn Rorrer, Beverly Warner, and Harper Scaggs sprint out at the start of the Knights Crossing Red race. Led by Warner with a 40th place finish, the Eagles had a good showing with a 15th place team finish.Blacksburg’s Avery Whitson leads Christiansburg’s Mariah Reed midway through the Knights Crossing Red race. With a 5th place finish (17:49.7), Whitson led the Blacksburg girls to the overall team win, while Reed finished 9th (18:10.4) for the 8th place Christiansburg girls team.Radford senior Abigail Castleberry placed 64th in the Knights Crossing Red race with a time of 20:33.5. The Bobcat girls team placed 13th overall at Saturday’s invitational.On a misty Saturday morning at Green Hill Park, Blacksburg’s Rivers Matthews broke the 15-minute barrier in winning the Knights Crossing title in a time of 14:57.6. Along with a strong second place finish by Calvin Wilbon (15:14.4), the Bruin boys finished second as a team behind Cardinal Gibbons (North Carolina).
