With the fall season a lot of nice events/holidays come with it: Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and Election Day.
This year Election Day is going to be more important than ever. In the past I have not thought much about the mid-term elections. I have had the opinion ‘who cares,’ but this year everyone should care.
Not only care, but to vote. The balance of the Senate and House of Representatives are at stake. What party controls Congress indicates the direction the country will follow for the next two years.
Early voting is open now.
One of the fall events that I really have trouble with is Daylight Saving Time. This year Daylight Saving Time starts on Nov. 1. The rule is “spring forward, fall back.” That is a nice saying, but why do we need to spend the next couple of months falling back, in darkness after 5 p.m.
They say it is to help farmers, so that they will have more sun in the early hours of the day. That could be true, but what percent of the population is involved in farming? Why do we need to fall back each fall?
The rest of the population suffers from shorter days of sunlight. In society we need to think about how a law is going to affect the majority of the population. So, let’s end falling back in the fall.
