- Milton Perfater, 81, of Lafayette, went to his heavenly home, surrounded by his family and friends, Sunday, Jan. 1, 2017.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 58 years, Betty; his devoted daughter, Robin Akers and husband, Dale; four grandsons, Joshua Akers, Caleb Akers and wife, Miriam, Aaron Akers and Jonathan Akers; one great-granddaughter, Annabelle Akers; three brothers, Elbert Perfater and wife, Diane, David Perfater and John Perfater and wife, Arnita; two sisters, Elsie Ferreirinha and Violet Norris and husband, Bob; two sister-in-laws, Edith Epperly and husband, Ray, and Geneva Morris; brother-in-law, June Craighead and wife, Helen. Many special nieces and nephews and very special friends of the family, Carol Mitchell and Tree Dodson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Julia Perfater.
Milton was a faithful member of and the Sunday School Superintendent at the Lafayette United Methodist Church. He was an original member of the Redeemers Gospel Quartet. He served his country in the United States Army.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, Jan. 5 at 2 p.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor John Collins and Pastor Jeane Dunkum officiating. Interment will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on the evening of Wednesday January 4, 2017 at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Dr. S.W. Blacksburg, VA 24060.
