Melinda Kay Wilson, age 52, of Blacksburg passed away Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2017, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in San Antonio, Texas on Dec. 30, 1964 to the late Franklin and Emma Jane Oliver Phillips.
She was also preceded in death by her brother, Michael Phillips.
She is survived by her husband, Anthony Wilson; daughters, Ashley Wilson and fiancee, Brigham Doud, and Erin Wilson; son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Meghan Wilson; mother-in-law, Ann V. Wilson; uncle and aunt, Tommy and Joyce Oliver; cousins, Little Tommy and Lulu; several aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives.
The family would like to thank their friends and the community for their amazing support over the last nine years during Melinda’s illness, especially Dr. David Schiff at UVA Medical Center, Nicole Lloyd from Carilion New River Valley Hospice and her home health nurses, Frances Collins and Cindy Collins.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017 at 11 a.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Scott Obenchain officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the New River Community College Educational Foundation, 5251 College Drive, Dublin, Va. 24084.
