Christiansburg Aquatic Center pool closures March 8-12
The Christiansburg Aquatic Center will host the Virginia Age Group Championship this week, welcoming top swimmers of all ages from around the state.
All pools will close at 9 p.m. today and will reopen on Monday.
Due to the large number of participants, there will be overflow parking at Christiansburg High School (close to the football field), with a free shuttle to the aquatic center.

Free showing of documentary ‘13th’ at Radford University March 15
Several groups at Radford University and Virginia Tech are sponsoring a showing of the documentary “13th” at the Bonnie Hurlburt Auditorium at Radford University on March 15 at 7 p.m. Dr. Brandy Faulkner from Virginia Tech will facilitate a dialogue following the film. The public is invited.
United Way holds benefit night March 15
The United Way of Montgomery County, Radford and Floyd will be holding a benefit night from 5-9 p.m. March 15 at Bottom Of The Stairs, a family-friendly southern gourmet restaurant. Bottom Of The Stairs is one of Blacksburg’s newest restaurants and is located beneath Top Of The Stairs at 217 College Ave. in Blacksburg.

Montgomery Museum hosts Auburn HS art reception Thursday
The Montgomery Museum will host a “Meet the Artist” reception for Auburn High School students Thursday from 5-7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. The museum is located at 300 S. Pepper St. in Christiansburg.
Christiansburg HS Class of 1967 hosts 50th Reunion Aug. 19
Christiansburg High School’s Class of 1967 recently announced it will be holding its 50th Class Reunion at The Farmhouse Restaurant at 6 p.m. Aug. 19.

NRV youth ministry hosting Valley Wide Youth Rally March 25
Straight Street youth ministry invites all youth ages 12-17 to attend its Valley Wide Youth Rally on March 25 at 3325 N. Franklin St. in Christiansburg. The event is free and will be held from 6-10 p.m.
Plenty of games, contests and prizes along with refreshments will be available. Christian rock band Beauty From Ruins and Christian rapper Matthew Tuck will provide music. The Pursuit Drama Team will provide additional entertainment.

Christiansburg Library hosting author Beth Macy March 28
The Christiansburg Library is pleased to announce an author talk with Beth Macy on her newest book “Truevine: Two Brothers, a Kidnapping, and a Mother’s Quest.” Macy will be speaking March 28 at 6 p.m. at the library. Books will be available for purchase at the event.
Beth Macy is the New York Times bestselling author of Factory Man. She was also an award winning journalist at the Roanoke Times for two decades and a Niemann Fellow at Harvard University.
Christiansburg Recreation Center offers AARP tax aid
The Christiansburg Recreation Center will offer the free AARP Tax Aid program beginning Thursday, Feb. 2 through April 15.
Appointments may be scheduled for Monday, Tuesday and Thursday between 1-3:15 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9-11:15 a.m.
The Recreation Center will begin taking appointments on Jan. 9. Please call 382-2349 to make an appointment or to get more information.
