Former Virginia Tech quarterback Marcus Vick has completed a five-day jail term in Montgomery County. The younger brother of Michael Vick was booked into jail on April 3 and released the next day. He was given credit on days spent in a Tidewater jail following his arrest last year.

The short jail term was issued by a Montgomery County judge after Vick failed to appear in court here in the ongoing saga of a civil suit against him. The judge gave him a contempt of court sentence of five days. He was later arrested in Newport News on the outstanding warrant.

The issue began in 2003 when he faced charges of having a relationship with an underage female. He settled a $6.3 million civil suit by signing a promissory note for $40,000.

He has failed to pay that amount and with interest, that civil suit is now close to $100,000.

Vick was charged with contempt of court in 2013 after he failed to provide financial documents in the case. Last April, Tidewater law enforcement officials arrested Vick on that outstanding warrant.

He was dismissed from the Virginia Tech football team in 2006 and initially was in training camp with the Miami Dolphins who released him in 2007.

As of this week, no additional court date has been set, and it’s not known who represents Vick as a lawyer.

He also still faces charges of resisting arrest, obstruction of justice, destruction to property and felony assault in Newport News that are directly connected to last year’s arrest.
