Virginia Tech is hosting a FAFSA Friday event to help students apply for federal aid on December 1 in the Student Services Building on Washington Street in Blacksburg.

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid, commonly known as the FAFSA, is used by most colleges to award financial aid to students, but many students struggle to complete them.

Virginia Tech is hosting a FAFSA Friday event on December 1 in the Student Services Building on Washington Street in Blacksburg. Drop in at Room 230 between 3-7 p.m.

This year’s application for 2018-19 funds opened on October 1 and the deadline is December 7.

“You’ll need to complete the FAFSA as early as possible to make sure you get all the aid you might be eligible for,” Rhonda Johnson, Associate Director of Client Services, University Scholarships and Financial Aid said.

Computers will be available and advisors will be onsite for assistance with questions. Bring your 2016 tax information and your FSA ID to create or retrieve your FSA ID at fsaid.ed.gov. Dependent students will also need parent tax information and at least one parent will need their own FSA ID, Johnson said.

The event is open to all students, families and to the NRV community. For more information contact Rhonda Johnson at 540-231-5179.
