The Town of Christiansburg started a water main upgrade project in the 900 block of Harless Street this week.
Scheduled to be complete by April 20, the project’s overall goal is to improve water pressure for residents in this area.
Over the next few weeks, because public works staff will be preparing and beginning construction including layout, asphalt removal, excavation and staging of materials, there may be obstructions on Harless Street.
The work necessary to complete these improvements will require temporary detours at different locations throughout the project, and there will be no through-traffic on Harless Street between Forest Street and Lester Street.
The work should not affect nearby residents’ water and sewer services; however, toward the end of the project, affected residents may experience a temporary water outage while new connections are made. Crews will attempt to notify each residence before the connection is made.
Access to residences will be maintained during the entire process and the town will make every effort to minimize the impact of construction.
