On July 1, the Town of Christiansburg will officially begin bi-monthly curb side recycling on alternating garbage pick-up days. For Christiansburg resident’s curbside recycling will have several advantages:
• The public works department will be involved in 21st Century methods of supporting town residents.
• The value of homes will increase. When people come to a community a low crime rate, good schools and the town’s support systems are high priorities. When home owner’s list bi-monthly curb side recycling as a town amenity, potential home buyers are given another reason to considered relocating in the community.
• Curbside recycling decreases the amount of garbage, while it will increase recycling by fifty percent.
• With the increase in recycling, landfills will last longer and reduce the town’s the tipping fee.
• It looks good: each family will receive a blue container to recycle material and, residents will not need to drive to a recycle center.
This is an excellent resource that the town is supplying residents for only five dollars a month.
If anyone has additional questions, the public works department will have a booth set up at the town’s farmers market on Hickok Street, Thursday afternoon, from 3-7 p.m.
Additionally, a presentation will be made at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center May 23, at 5:30 p.m.
