The Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets held their annual parade on the Virginia Tech Drillfield Saturday, April 28.
As part of the ceremony, sophomore Michael Austin Harman was promoted to the honorary position of color guard command, a responsibility unusual for a sophomore.
Michael is a native of Christiansburg, graduating from Christiansburg High School in 2016. A chemistry major with a minor in history and leadership, he is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Harman.
The Color Guard is a dedicated group of 12 to 17 cadets responsible for raising and lowering the flag over the campus’s Upper Quad each day. The Color Guard represents the Corps and the university at events on campus and around the country, maintains all flags and equipment, and Color Guard members participate in outreach efforts within the local community.
“Go Hokies,” Mr. and Mrs. Harman said in a recent announcement.
