Blacksburg outscored E.C. Glass 141 to 103 to claim last week’s boys’ Region 4D track meet. The girls’ team took second behind E.C. Glass 175 to 125.
Cole Beck claimed both the 100 and 200-meter titles for the Bruins who took its first region title in the 4A classification after dominating 3A for the past 10 years.
Beck also anchored the 400-meter relay team, which included Noah Ramsey, Nick Czar and Cole Dunlap. Ramsey also won the long jump with a 22 feet, four inch mark.
Blacksburg’s Solomon Ghosh brought home another first place in the discus with a 157 feet heave.
Alistair Bushey won the 3,200-meter race.
On the girls side, Sophia Link gave the Bruins a clean sweep and another region tile in the 3,200.
Liberty Christian (83) finished third and Pulaski fourth (72) in the boys’ competition, while Pulaski was third and Salem finished fourth.
