The congregation of Christiansburg Wesleyan Church recently merged with the congregation of Radford Wesleyan church, establishing a new name, Christ Wesleyan Church.
The merger became official May 1, and the newly formed church elected the Reverend Gale A. Janofski to serve a four-year term as its new pastor. Janofski had been the pastor of the Radford Wesleyan Church.
Dr. David Hurd formerly served 32 years as pastor of the Christiansburg Wesleyan Church. Dr. Hurd resigned at the end of February, although he continues to serve the Mountain View Wesleyan Church in Blacksburg, which recently celebrated its 80th anniversary.
Christ Wesleyan Church is part of the Shenandoah District of the Wesleyan Church denomination, with district headquarters in Roanoke. The district has 60 churches across Virginia and West Virginia.
Christ Wesleyan is located at 525 Harkrader St. and its services are held at 10 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. each Sunday.
