Following a national search and a series of on-campus candidate interviews and presentations, Joyendu “Joy” Bhadury has been selected to serve as the next dean of Radford University’s College of Business and Economics (COBE).
Bhadury currently serves as dean and professor at the School of Business and Management at State University of New York (SUNY) – The College at Brockport, which, like COBE, is accredited by The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).
“We are pleased to welcome Dr. Bhadury and his family to the Radford University family as he serves as the next dean of our College of Business and Economics,” Radford University President Brian O. Hemphill said. “He brings a wealth of knowledge and vast leadership experience that will well serve COBE faculty as they teach and develop students into business professionals who will work and compete in a global economy.”
Interim Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Kenna Colley praised the search committee members for their work to help identify a new dean for the college.
“Thank you to Dr. Clarence Rose for chairing the selection committee, and to all of the faculty, students, staff and administrators who served on the committee and worked diligently to ensure a successful search leading to this important selection of the next leader of the College of Business and Economics,” Colley said. “The committee reviewed many extraordinary candidates who came to us through an extensive search. I am sure I speak for many students, faculty, staff and administrators in welcoming Dr. Bhadury to Radford. We are excited to work with him to continue advance our great university and the experience we provide to our students.”

He is enthusiastic, engaging, and eager to collaborate with faculty and staff. I anticipate meaningful contributions to the university from Dr. Bhadury. Before joining SUNY – The College at Brockport, Bhadury served as associate dean of Graduate Programs and Research at the Bryan School of Business and Economics at UNC-Greensboro (2007-14) and as a professor in the Department of Information Systems and Operations Management (2007-16).
Bhadury also served in roles as chair, interim chair and associate chair in the Department of Management and Finance at California State University, East Bay (2001-2007). He was director of the university’s engineering program (1999-2001) after serving as associate professor in the Department of Management and Finance (1998-2002).
Previously, Bhadury an assistant professor in the Faculty of Administration at the University of New Brunswick in Canada (1991-1998) and also served as the area coordinator for the Quantitative Methods Area.
Bhadury has been a visiting professor of management at Vaal University of Technology in South Africa since 2015, and a visiting lecturer at Fachhochschule-Ludwigshafen, Germany (2015-16) and Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration, Accra, Ghana (2015-16).
Bhadury earned a Ph.D. in Management Science from the School of Management, University of Texas at Dallas and a Bachelor of Technology in Electronics Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University in India.
Bhadury will begin his new role at Radford University on Aug. 1.
