Thursday is the first official day of summer, and the Christiansburg Farmers’ Market is beating the heat with a fur-iendly competition.
Bring Fido to the market for our Dog Days of Summer contest, where man’s best friend will be put to the test in the following categories: best smile, best trick, best costume, senior dog, biggest dog, smallest dog and look-alike (with owner).
The first-place winners in each category will go home with some fun treats, donated by the Montgomery County Animal Care and Adoption Center, the Humane Society of Montgomery County, Hans Meadow Kennel, Diva Dogs Canine Spa, Tail Chasers and Town and Country Veterinary Clinic.
Attendees can enter their pet into any of the categories at no cost. No experience is necessary—the event is purely for fun.
Registration for the event will occur at the market manager’s tent on Hickok Street from 4:30-5:30 p.m. The show—and judging—begins at 5:45 p.m.
The Humane Society of Montgomery County, the Montgomery County Animal Care and Adoption Center, Diva Dogs Canine Spa, and Town and Country Veterinary Clinic will be joining us at the market to cheer on your pups and offer information on their services.
Also at the market on June 21, there will be live music by Stonehouse, a pop-up exhibit by the Montgomery Museum and Lewis Miller Art Center, all of your favorite vendors, Homestead Creamery ice cream, the Veteran Canteen food truck and the Till & Grill food truck. The Christiansburg Farmers’ Market is open from 3-7 p.m. every Thursday through October.
All dogs must be kept on leash while at the Christiansburg Farmers’ Market, and as always, please clean up after your pet.
