Art Exhibit: TAVA Neologism Exhibit
All Month of June, at the Blacksburg Library
Neologisms represent the evolving nature of the English language and get added to English dictionaries at the rate of 1,000 a year. Over time people create newly coined terms, words, or phrases defining concepts or ideas that were previously expressed using other words or may not have existed at all. Textile Artists of Virginia (TAVA) played with examples of neologisms that found their way into modern (and not so modern–day) English language. TAVA was established to support each member as a fiber artist, to explore the boundaries of the medium, and to educate and increase public awareness of fiber art.
