Christiansburg Town Hall will be closed Wednesday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day. Town Hall will reopen at 8 a.m. on Thursday, July 5.
The Christiansburg Aquatic Center and Christiansburg Recreation Center will also be closed on Wednesday, July 4, and both will reopen on Thursday, July 5.
Solid waste collection – including both garbage and recycling – regularly scheduled for Wednesday will be collected on Tuesday, July 3, along with Tuesday’s regular collection. Please have your garbage and recycling placed out for collection by 8 a.m.
The Town of Christiansburg will be hosting its annual Fourth of July Celebration on Wednesday, July 4, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in downtown Christiansburg. There will be craft and business vendors, food trucks, live music, kids’ activities and your favorite Farmers’ Market vendors. The band lineup is as follows:
• 10:30 a.m.: Fritz Schindler
• 12 p.m.: Half Throttle
• 1:30 p.m.: Lil’ Sum’n Sum’n
After the downtown festival wraps up, the fun is just beginning! The fireworks show starts at 9:15 p.m., and the fireworks will be launched near the Truman Wilson Property (future regional park) on Peppers Ferry Road.
The fireworks will be launched from a private property but can be viewed from the Huckleberry Trail or New River Valley Mall or Walmart parking lots.
Attendees can park in any available parking spot at either location, and Christiansburg Police will be on site to direct traffic before and after the fireworks show.
A portion of Quin Stuart Boulevard will be closed, from Patriot Way to Peppers Ferry Road, at about 9 p.m. and will remain closed during the duration of the fireworks show.
Peppers Ferry Road will remain open, and parking along the sides of Peppers Ferry Road will not be permitted.
The rain date for fireworks is Thursday, July 5. There is no rain date for the downtown festival.
