Stay and Play, a Library Playgroup

Under their parent’s supervision, babies and toddlers can play during this informal gathering. This program is for ages 0-4 and meets in the Storytime room.

Parents and caregivers are invited to socialize while supervising an informal play group for their babies and toddlers. Ages 0-4 years.
Club M.O.M. (Meeting Other Munchkins)
Every Wednesday after Storytime, 11:15 AM – 12:15 PM, Jessie Peterman Library, Floyd
This play group will meet every Wednesday there is a Storytime planned. Relatives can relax and have a cup of tea while their children play with blocks and other toys.
Art Exhibit: Sue Hossack
All Month of July, at the Blacksburg Library
After a long career in software engineering, Sue retrained as an occupational therapist in 2003. She began painting after retiring in 2013. She paints mostly in acrylic and ink, and prefers subjects with strong shadows such as trees, still life, boats, and animals, using vivid colors to bring the objects to life. She has a studio at the Art Bank, 263A Blue Grass Trail, Newport, VA (Facebook @Banking Art).

All of July
View local artist, Becca Imbur’s amazing work. Imbur creates paper and textiles using nature-based materials sourced from the New River Valley. Creating journals, blank books, art journals and artists books. She collects everyday objects to create the colors and patterns that are found on her papers and textiles.

BackPack Program Donations
All Month of July, at the Meadowbrook Public Library
The Meadowbrook Public Library is a collection point for items needed for the BackPack Program. Bring your donations of the following items to the library during July: Pop-tops, ravioli, applesauce, peanut butter, plastic bottles of jelly, cereal, 100% Juice boxes, canned tuna or chicken, mac and cheese, Ramen noodles, canned fruit, granola bars or cereal bars. We will also be collecting school supplies for these children.

In Miss Jessie’s Gallery
All month On display in Miss Jessie’s Gallery are abstract expressionist Adija Wolf and potter/instructor Aaron Moseley. Wolf’s paintings “dance dimensionally from one to the other and back again, musings on the energetic nature underlying the world we think we know.”– Doug Rubel. Moseley teaches classes at the Floyd Center for the Arts and creates functional work with a specific interest in wood-fire and soda kilns. You don’t want to miss this exhibit!
