Jessica Wollmann of Blacksburg has been named the Big South Conference’s Attacking Player of the Week, which was announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.
Wollmann compiled two goals and 12 shots – nine on goal—in two matches this week for the Radford University women’s soccer team.
The first was against Longwood and gave the Highlanders a 2-0 lead midway through the first half. Wollmann’s lone goal against the Lancers would eventually become the game-winning goal. It was the 10th game-winning goal of her career, which is tied for first place at Radford.
“Jessica’s consistency has been great all season,” Ben Sohrabi said. “I think we are attacking well as a team and Jessica is finding a way to be a difference maker each match.”
She went on to score her second goal of the week against High Point in the third minute, which helped lead the Highlanders to a 3-2 victory over the Panthers.
Wollmann is the sixth Highlander to win a Big South weekly award this year, the most of any team in the Big South. All six awards have come from different players.
