Longshop-McCoy Fire and Rescue pancake breakfast Saturday
From 6:30 – 11 a.m. Longshop-McCoy Fire and Rescue will host its annual pancake breakfast on Saturday, Oct. 13 at the Longshop-McCoy Fire and Rescue building (5570 McCoy Road) in McCoy.
Breakfast of pancakes, bacon or sausage, juice and coffee is $7 and all proceeds benefit the fire and rescue squads.
Mini BugFest Saturday
At the Blacksburg Public library at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, revving up for Hokie BugFest 2018, Mini BugFest presents an introduction to “the buggy fun you can expect at Virginia Tech’s full-day festival (www.hokiebugfest.org)”. Learn about the exciting world of insects and their arthropod friends from VT graduate student mentors and staff.
Repair Café at Habitat for Humanity Saturday
Habitat for Humanity is co-hosting a Repair Café with the New River Valley TimeBank, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore (1675 N Franklin St., Christiansburg).
Volunteer repair technicians will offer free repairs to small appliances, furniture, computers, clothing, knife and tool sharpening and plant diagnosis/re-potting.
Residents may bring up to three items for repair. Local high schoolers from Robotics Team 401 will be at this event with a demonstration of one of their designs to entertain children and adults alike.
Christiansburg Fall Festival Saturday
Join the Christiansburg Police Department and New River Valley Mall for our annual fall festival, featuring live music, food vendors, activities for children, and Fire, Rescue and law enforcement booths.
The festival runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13, in the parking lot of the New River Valley Mall, 728 New River Rd.
20th anniversary of the Glencoe Museum Saturday
This milestone will be celebrated with a day of activities, food, the debut of the “1890s Dinner Party” history exhibit and a new art gallery show. Highlighting the event will be three presentations that help place the history of the Glencoe Mansion (600 Unruh Drive, Radford) and of the Radford area into the sweeping story of the Civil War and the post-war period. In addition, crafters and artisans will be demonstrating, and local businesses will be showcasing their goods and services.
