Christa Gneist Hinkelmann, 79, of Blacksburg, Va. passed away Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2019. She was born on Sept. 18, 1939 in Halle, Germany; a daughter of the late Guenther Gneist and Erika von Bredow Gneist.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Klaus; son, Christoph; and brother and sister-in-law, Dietrich and Anita Gneist. Christa was an active volunteer in the local community and a lover of dogs, flowers, birds, gardening, and photography.
A Memorial service will be held this summer. Memorial donations my be made to the Humane Society of Montgomery County (1183 Flanagan Drive) Christiansburg, Va. 24073 or the Montgomery County Emergency Assistance Program (MCEAP), 110 Roanoke Street, Christiansburg, Va. 24073.
