Margaret Kelsey Ridinger Atkinson, 94, of Blacksburg, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2019 surrounded by family. She was born on Feb. 5, 1924 in Blacksburg, VA, where she lived most of her life. The daughter of the late Vane E. and Lucy B. Kelsey. She is survived by two daughters, Nancy Ridinger Bean (Joe), Lucy Ridinger King (Jerry); daughter-in-law, Judy Thomas Ridinger. She was pre-deceased by her husbands, Vernon Ridinger and Bane Atkinson; and her son, Jack Ridinger. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Maggie Bean, Mandy Bean, Jason Ridinger (Angela), Jon King (Angelee), Chris King; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, including, Betsy Kelsey Hulvey, Beth Kelsey Bennett; as well as special friend, Aldora Green.
Margaret’s favorite things in life were her family, her love for Virginia Tech, and her many dogs. Among her hobbies were needlepoint, knitting, playing the piano, organ, and dancing and singing to big band music.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, Jan. 20, 2019 at McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg. Interment will follow in the Westview Cemetery, Blacksburg. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Montgomery County, the Lyric Theatre Foundation, and/or the organization of your choice.
