The Graham G-Men had played spoilers in the region C football playoffs, but things were a little different Friday night as the unbeaten Radford Bobcats gained revenge in a 66-51 basketball win.
Radford (28-0) now advances to the state semis where they will be looking for another stroke of revenge as they play Gate City who knocked them out of the Class 2 playoffs last season. That game was Radford’s only loss in two years. But Gate City is without Mac McClung who now suits up for Georgetown in his first year of college ball.
Friday, Radford overcame a sluggish start and built a 16-point lead to advance. Quinton Morton-Robertson led the team with 22 points. P.J. Prioleau and Miles Jones added 11 apiece.
Across the valley, Auburn had set the stage for their own run to the final four after winning the regional title over George Wythe. But a late run by Eastside Friday night will leave them out of the big dance.
Eastside’s Ethan Powers hit a three-pointer at the buzzer to send the game into overtime. He then drained two free throws with less than eight seconds left in OT for the win.
Auburn finishes the season at 20-9. Taylor Newcome led the Eagles with 17 points. Daniel Brotherton chipped in 13 points.
