Betty Jewel Furrow Hines of Blacksburg, and a long-time resident of Radford, left this life on March 14, 2019. Waiting for her in Heaven were her parents, Truman and Mabel Furrow, and her first husband, Bill Hines.
She is survived by her loving husband, Tony Campasini of Blacksburg, Va.; sister and her husband, Bonnie and Don Lawton of Hopewell, Va.; two daughters and their husbands, Karen Hines and Bill Ryplansky of Dublin, Va., and Vickie and Ron Green of Newport, Va.; and her son Bob Hines of Auburn, Ga. Also surviving are her nephew and his wife, Don Jr. and Teresa Lawton; niece, Beth Lawton Johnson and her husband Bobby; and special cousins, Teresa and George Harkrader, and Renie Price, all of Radford. She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Stacy Montgomerie, Bethany Anderson, Jessica Lambiase and Ruth Ann North and her four great grandchildren, Walker and Cicely Jewel Anderson and Jack and Andy North.
Betty received Bachelor and Master’s degrees in Business from Radford College and a Doctorate in Business Education from VA Tech. She retired after many years as Department Chairman of the Business Department at New River Community College. Betty was a dedicated educator and a member of Delta Pi Epsilon, National Honorary Graduate Fraternity in Business Education. Betty rarely went anywhere in the New River Valley that someone didn’t rush up to say “Hello Dr. Hines! and to thank her for her genuine interest in helping them be successful in their personal and professional lives.
Born on Aug. 23, 1929, Betty was a Victorian style lady who loved decorating, cooking and entertaining. Her other favorite pastime was browsing antiques stores in search of treasures to add to her Victorian décor or to one of her several antique spaces in New River Valley antiques malls.

There was a visitation on Thursday, Mar. 21, 2019 at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford. Memorial services followed with Rev. Mark Kilboure officiating. Interment followed at Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin.
