Girl scouts Troop 80 based at Carter Street Methodist Church in Radford is trying to save wildlife one mascara brush at a time. The troop is collecting old brushes, cleaning and sending them to the Appalachian Wildlife Refuge, a nonprofit that assists with the rehabilitation of animals in North Carolina. The brushes are small and soft enough to help clean the animals, removing fly eggs and larva from fur. Pictured are: (from left) scouts Star Young, Alexandra Chumbley and Kyla Young.
