The Virginia Tech swimming and diving program has five representatives on the 2019 All-ACC Academic Team as announced Wednesday by the conference office.
Ben Schiesl headlines the team for the Hokies, receiving the honor for the fourth consecutive year. He is one-of-two men’s honorees in the league to have earned a place on the team in all four years. Joining him are three-time recipient Ian Ho as well as first time honorees Blake Manoff and Norbert Szabo.
On the women’s side, Ashlynn Peters makes her third appearance on the conference academic team. She is one-of-six on the women’s side in the conference to have received the recognition at least three times.
All five of Tech’s honorees represented the Hokies at the NCAA Championships.
Student-athletes are recognized based on performances in the classroom as well as in the pool. Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester as well as a 3.0 cumulative GPA for their careers.
