Radford High School offensive lineman Ben Cox has announced plans to attend Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee to play football in 2020. The 6-foot 5, 280 pounder anchored a high school line last season that did not allow a sack in five games. The all-state selection has been listed as a 3-star recruit and had offers from 31 Division I schools including all eight Ivy League programs.
Cox also had offers from Illinois, Kansas, Old Dominion and Central Michigan.
Last month, he was named an academic All-American for the second time in his high school career.
His father played at the University of North Carolina and his brother is at William and Mary.
“I chose Vanderbilt because of the amazing education I will get when I go there, and because I want to compete in the highest level of football,” Ben said this week.
He plans to major in biology and would like to be a physical therapist.
Cox is also a member of the National Honor Society and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
