Town of Blacksburg Fourth of July Celebration schedule: A parade, a movie, music, then fireworks


Join the Town of Blacksburg and Mt. Tabor Ruritan Club on July 4 for a day of free, family-friendly activities, said the town in an announcement of the holiday schedule of events.

2 p.m.: Parade in Downtown Blacksburg followed by a free movie “Over the Hedge” at The Lyric Theatre, all sponsored by Mt. Tabor Ruritan Club. The parade will begin at Eheart Street and South Main Street and continue to Alumni Mall.

Then come to Municipal Park (across Patrick Henry from the Old Blacksburg Middle School) for music and fireworks.

6 p.m.: The Blacksburg Community Band

7:15 pm: The Meter’s Running

9:30 pm: Fireworks

Town of Blacksburg administrative schedule

The following town offices will be closed in observance of Independence Day on Thursday, July 4:

Town administrative offices

Blacksburg Aquatic Center

Blacksburg Community Center

Blacksburg Transit – There will be no Blacksburg Transit bus service on July 4. However, BT will operate a shuttle to the fireworks. For more information, visit http://www.ridebt.org/july-4.

There will be no refuse/recycling Northeast Quadrant. Makeup service will be Saturday, July 6. Please have all refuse and recycling at the curb by 7 a.m.

Town administrative offices will also be closed on Friday, July 5.

Christiansburg’s 2019 Fourth of July Celebration festival schedule: Music, farmers’ market, food and fireworks

This year’s Fourth of July Celebration will kick off with a festival on Main Street in downtown Christiansburg from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, July 4.

Join us, said the town, for live music, kids’ activities, Farmers’ Market vendors, craft vendors, food trucks and more. The band line up is as follows:

· 10:30 a.m. – Fritz Schindler

· 12 p.m. – Half Throttle

· 1:30 p.m. – Don and the Deltones

The downtown festival will be followed by fireworks at night, beginning around 9:15 p.m. Fireworks will be set off from a property off Peppers Ferry Road and can be viewed from the NRV Mall or Walmart parking lots.

Town of Christiansburg administration schedule

On July 4, Christiansburg Town Hall, the Christiansburg Aquatic Center and the Christiansburg Recreation Center will be closed. Garbage, which would have normally been collected Thursday, July 4, will be collected today, Wednesday, July 3.

On July 5, Town Hall will be closed, but the Recreation Center will be operational with normal business hours, although their administrative offices will be closed. The Aquatic Center will be open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and administrative offices will be closed. Garbage which would have normally been collected Friday, July 5, will be collected Monday, July 8.
