Larry Michael (Mike) Wallace, 70, of Riner died Sept. 13, 2019 at his home. He is preceded in death by his mothers, Helen McCrory and Lena Wallace, father, Ezra Wallace, sister, Shirley Kaminsky, fathers-in-law, Jimmy Hungate and John Collins. He coached AAU Basketball and Baseball for many years. Special thanks goes out to the boys that made happy memories for him, his son, Joey, Ryan Bowyer, Scott Martin, Travis West, and David Wyatt. After 50 years he still holds the game high record in basketball of 55 points set in 1969 at Auburn High School. He is survived by the love of his life of 31 years wife, Debbie (Hungate) Wallace, daughters, Michelle Wallace and Natasha (Andy) Neel, sons, Joey (Katelyn) Wallace, Chris (Judy) Wallace, the pride and joy of his life, his grandchildren, Levi, Sawyer, and Ellie Wallace, Caiohime and Saoirse Wallace, Dustin and Cory Stover, Joshua Neel, sisters, Carole Shoultz, Candy (Jerry) Rimes, Robin Tapper, Carol Altizer, brothers, Steve A’della, Richard (Dale) Wallace, mother-in-law, Kitty Collins, brother-in-law, Doug (Shirley) Hungate, sisters-in-law, Dana Payne, Leann (Kevin) Sharp, many nieces and nephews, his fur buddy, Charlie. Many thanks to Riner Rescue, the nurses on second and fourth floors at Lewis Gale Hospital-Montgomery, Good Samaritan Hospice, and his sister Candy for all the help and care for him. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2019 at 4 p.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Pastor Danny Nettleton officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the trust fund for his grandchildren at Atlantic Union Bank. The family received friends from 2- 4 p.m. Tuesday afternoon prior the service at McCoy Funeral Home 150 Country Club Dr. SW, Blacksburg.
