On Wednesday, Great Road on Main in downtown Christiansburg will welcome the Montgomery Museum, the regional tourism office, and Downtown Christiansburg, Inc., as new tenants.
To celebrate the official opening of the collaborative space, the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce will host a ribbon cutting on Wednesday at 3 p.m. inside the Celtic Hall of the Great Road on Main at 100 W Main Street in Christiansburg.
The Christiansburg location of the Montgomery County Regional Tourism office marks a move from the Montgomery County Government Center. The office will continue to serve visitors at the Great Road Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.
“We are pleased to join with our community partners to serve county residents and visitors in this synergistic space in downtown Christiansburg,” said Craig Meadows, Montgomery County administrator and tourism board chair. “The proximity of the Great Road on Main facility to the interstate, along with the services planned for this location, will enhance the mission of the regional tourism program.”
The Montgomery Museum of Art and History will open the Museum Market on Main to include a semi-permanent Great Road exhibit and a gift shop offering products created by local artists and authors.
“The Montgomery Museum of Art and History is happy to open the museum market on Main in downtown Christiansburg,” said Sue Farrar, the museum’s director. “We are hoping to fill a void in downtown shopping while offering a glimpse of history to the community. It is our pleasure to join the Great Road, Regional Office of Tourism and Downtown Christiansburg, Inc., to bring some new life to Main Street Christiansburg.”
Downtown Christiansburg, Inc., (DCI) will use its new space for meetings and as headquarters for their various events such as the food truck rodeo and the wine and artisans festival. The new space will help Downtown Christiansburg, Inc., achieve its vision of establishing downtown Christiansburg as a destination, an economically viable central business district, and a vibrant center for culture and community.
“We at DCI are thrilled to join our partners from Montgomery County Tourism, the
Montgomery Museum, and Great Road on Main in this exciting step forward for downtown Christiansburg,” said Justin Sanders, president of Downtown Christiansburg, Inc. “The impact of having so many talented partners under one roof can’t be overstated. It provides a renewed opportunity for collaboration and innovation. We look forward to settling into our new home and continuing to showcase downtown as a destination for our residents, business owners, and visitors.”
The public is invited to help celebrate this new collaborative space in downtown Christiansburg.
