Notice is hereby given of a public hearing to be held on May 21, 2020 at 1:30 pm at the Montgomery Regional Solid Waste Authority, 555 Authority Drive, Christiansburg, VA 24073 concerning MRSWA’s proposed rates, fees and charges for solid waste and refuse disposal services. Such proposed rates, fees and charges are as follows: SOLID WASTE SERVICES Clean brush, wood & pallets $49.50 per ton ($2.48 minimum charge up to 100 lbs.) Construction waste $43.00 per ton ($2.15 minimum charge up to 100 lbs.) Dead animals $57.00 per ton ($2.85 minimum charge up to 100 lbs.) Industrial waste $43.00 per ton ($2.15 minimum charge up to 100 lbs.) Leaves $57.00 per ton ($2.85 minimum charge up to 100 lbs.) Municipal solid waste – jurisdictional $57.00 per ton ($2.85 minimum charge up to 100 lbs.) Municipal solid waste – commercial $43.00 per ton ($2.15 minimum charge up to 100 lbs.) Sludge $57.00 per ton ($2.85 minimum charge up to 100 lbs.) White goods/appliances – contain freon Only a $15.00 freon surcharge Alternate daily cover direct haul material Contact NRRA Direct Haul – non friable asbestos Contact NRRA Mulch sold to public $30.00 per ton Untarped/unsecured loads $10.00 per load (in addition to the per ton material fee) Member clean-up events $57.00 per ton Special waste: Must be of a type allowed by law and acceptable to the Montgomery Regional Solid Waste Authority. Rate charged will be a rate set by the New River Resource Authority plus cost of transportation and handling. RECYCLING SERVICES Tires $0.17 per pound ($3.40 minimum charge up to 20 pounds) (Personal items brought by (a) individuals residing in an Authority member jurisdiction, (b) a program sponsored by a member jurisdiction, are not subject to charges listed below; businesses and all others subject to charges listed below.) All interested persons will be given an opportunity to be heard at the public hearing, but due to the state of emergency and COVID-19 pandemic, MRSWA’s Board of Directors may impose certain requirements governing the format and conduct of the public hearing.
