Bertha Jean “Julie” Price Reed, 84, passed away on Aug. 30, 2020.
She was born in Montgomery County on Sept. 19, 1935, to the late Clarence and Bertha Mae (Cox) Price.
Also preceding her in death were two sisters, Ruth Elliott and Ruby Herzig; a brother, Garland Price; a son, James Michael Price; and her late husband and the father of her children, Harold James Sheppard.
Survivors include her daughter and caretaker for the past eight years, Rose Mary Sheppard; sons Robert Wayne (Sharon), Larry Dean (Ruby) and Tommy Lee Sheppard (Debbi) all of Blacksburg; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren; two special nephews, David and Glenn Herzig; a dear friend of 60-plus years, Joyce Pascoe; and her very special service dog, Koda.
A graveside service will be held today, Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2020, at 11 a.m. at Westview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. prior to the service at McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.
