Coats or Kids Collection
The American Businesswomen’s Association (ABWA) Express Network of the New River Valley is coordinating the New River Valley Coats for Kids Collection 2020 for the Women’s Resource Center in Radford. They are collecting children and adult coats that are used or new. This year in addition to coats, They are looking to provide nice warm sweatshirts or sweatshirt jackets. Please consider donating your coats, jackets, or heavy sweatshirts to this worthy cause by dropping them off at any of the following locations:

Glencoe Mansion Gallery Show by Portrait Artist Teresa Regil
Glencoe Mansion, Museum & Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of the gallery show by portrait artist Teresa Regil, “A Painted Portrait of a Beloved. A Family Heirloom.” The show will be on display Oct. 6 through Dec. 4. Regil is generously donating one of her paintings for a silent auction to help benefit the museum. The painting is her master copy of a work by her artistic inspiration John Singer Sargent. The piece will be open for bidding throughout the length of the show, and the winner will be announced at the end of the show. Everyone is welcome to visit the museum. There is no admission charge.

100+ Women Who Care NRV Fall 2020 Quarterly Meeting
Ideal volunteer opportunity for any woman with a busy schedule but an interest in giving back to the community. Meetings are always one hour or less! Every quarterly meeting, each member contributes $100 directly to a charity selected by majority vote, with approximately $10,000 being donated in total to the elected organization. No membership dues or additional commitments of time or money, and members can enter the quarterly drawing to represent a favorite not-for-profit to the group for consideration of that meeting’s entire donation amount. Annual Radford festival will be back this year with a new look. Locally made jewelry, pottery, clothing, letterpress and woodworking are just some of the featured items that will be available this year as the event moves online. Craft and Draft will return to Glencoe Mansion Museum and Gallery in Fall of 2021.

26th annual Hokie Harvest and cattle auction to go online for 2020
Auction will be held at 6:30 p.m. through www.cowbuyer.com. 70 cattle will be auctioned. Proceeds from the sale are re-invested in Animal and Poultry Sciences departmental programs; more than $3.2 million has been reinvested since the first sale in 1995. To participate, registration is required on www.cowbuyer.com at least one hour before the sale to watch and bid online in real-time. If high-speed internet is not available, bids can be arranged via tel-o-auction. Before the sale, call Brubaker Sales at 540-908-5799 to obtain a bidder number. The online horse auction is typically a component of Hokie Harvest. This year, however, the online horse auction and Hokie Harvest are occurring separately.

All branches of the Montgomery-Floyd Regional Library are offering only curbside pickup service (including remote printing). In-branch services are not currently available. Radford Public Library Resumes In-Library Appointments
RPL resumed in-house browsing and computer use appointments on Thursday, Sept. 24. Please call 540 731-3621 to schedule an appointment to browse or use the computers on Thursday through Saturday, same-day appointments. Grab & Go Services continue Monday through Saturday. Please remember that you can use the MyLibro app to search RPL’s catalog and place holds as well as schedule pick-up times. Which you can also do via phone by calling 540 731-3621. For Grab and Go Prints, email the documents you would like printed to rad.lib@radfordva.gov, then call731-3621 to make sure the document are received and schedule a time to pick them up at the building entrance. Prices are the same as usual ($0.10 for black and white, $0.25 for color), and exact change is appreciated when possible.
