On Thursday, March 25th at 5:00 PM, The deadline to qualify for the June Democratic Primary passed on Thursday at 5 p.m. Because no other candidate filed before the deadline, Delegate Chris Hurst has secured the Democratic nomination.
Hurst released this statement:
“I am officially the Democratic nominee for Virginia’s 12th House District. I’m excited to continue our campaign this year as we talk about all we’ve accomplished in the past two years and what we still have left ahead of us. Thousands of people in the 12th District now have access to broadband Internet for the first time because I helped deliver millions in state funds. Teachers, troopers, state employees and college faculty and staff are set to receive their highest pay raises in a decade. And I’m one of the loudest voices in Richmond fighting for additional school funding.
“The General Assembly has managed the pandemic in a responsible and thoughtful way and Virginia is one of the top states in the country for distributing vaccines,” Hurst said. “But now is not the time to rest. Too many businesses are hurting, our students are a year behind and housing problems in the New River Valley are limiting our shot at growth. I’m eager to continue our collective conversation on how we can build the NRV back better than ever.”
