Frederick Eugene Estes, “Freddie,” of Riner, born Feb. 14, 1944, passed away Thursday, Feb. 24, 2022 from injuries sustained from a vehicle accident.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Butler, Sr., and Mariam Gustava (Hoover) Estes; a son, Jeffrey Scott Estes; a grandson, Gregory Scott Estes; a grand-nephew, Dakotah Booth; and brothers Junior, Jim, Phillip, Don, and Rodger Estes. 

He leaves to cherish his memory his sister, Evelyn Harrison; his sister-in-law, Mary Ann Estes; his son, Gregory Estes (Corina); his grandsons, Noah and Jeffrey Estes; his granddaughter, Misty Estes; his great-grandchildren, Kileigh and Logan; special nieces Debbie (Benjy) Bishop, Tammy (David) Booth, and Jean (Clinton) Marshall; a nephew, Bryan Harrison (Brenda); grand-nieces Desirae` Booth, Jamie (Spencer) Jamison, Kayli Harrison, and Krystin (Ethan) Aronson; grand-nephews, Talon and Caiden Booth and Logan Bishop; and four daughters along with numerous other family members. 

Fred was an avid race car fan and also drove a race car in his youth. He looked forward to every day at Eagle Express making coffee and talking with those who came in. He cherished every friendship he made. “Boy, Boy, Boy,” Fred we are going to miss you so much. 

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, March 1, 2022, in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Frankie Graham officiating. Interment followed in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg. In lieu of flowers, in honor of Fred’s love for animals, donations can be made to Mountain View Humane 225 Industrial Drive, Christiansburg, Va. 24073.
