Virginia state parks hiring hundreds of part-time, full-time positions in 2022

Virginia’s state parks are now seeking to fill numerous part-time and full-time positions at the commonwealth’s 41 parks in 2022.

The opportunities are varied, from working outdoors to sharing educational or historical expertise to planning events and programs, all providing the chance to gain unique and valuable experience, knowledge, and skills.

Daily duties will vary for each job with different needs at each park location. For example, new hires may have the opportunity to present nature, culture, and history programs for all ages; provide friendly customer service at a park contact station, camp store, or visitor center; and/or perform the routine grounds care, maintenance, light construction, and cleaning tasks necessary to operate state park facilities. 

Available jobs are listed online with the requirements and all interested persons have to do is apply at https://www.dcr.virginia.gov/document/general-state-job-application.doc.

Part-time jobs include maintenance ranger, contact ranger, groundskeeper, housekeeper, trades technician, office assistant, administrative assistant, park interpreter, education support specialist, food service, and lifeguard.

Among the additional park positions now available are park ranger, chief ranger, office manager, housekeeping park ranger, resource specialist, and headquarters management.

The following parks have an online version of the application for part-time employment opportunities.: Bear Creek Lake, Cumberland; Belle Isle, Lancaster; Claytor Lake, Dublin; First Landing, Virginia Beach; Holliday Lake, Appomattox; Machacomoco, Hayes; Pocahontas, Chesterfield; Twin Lakes, Green Bay; and York River, Williamsburg.
